Paper conservation and restoration is one of the most challenging undertakings in the art restoration world. Rebuilding paper takes great skill and perseverance. At The Master Restorer we excel at preserving the original paper and reconstructing any missing areas of paper so that the document can be restored to its original state.
Mold, acid, fading, foxing, and discoloration can all affect the original paper negatively. Other factors include sunlight, humidity, rust chemicals, water damage, and smoke and pollution damage.
At The Master Restorer, we are experts in the art of paper conservation and restoration. While other restorers may subject paper to chemicals and then place the paper under heavy weight, we do not follow that approach. Instead, we block out unaffected areas, gently protect the images, and then use airbrushes and artist brushes to apply the chemical treatment.
